Bread ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application for learning and practicing sourdough bread baking. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Bread is an offline-first application. The following data is created and stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- User profile (name, avatar, experience level)
- Course progress and quiz scores
- Baking journal entries and photos
- Sourdough starter (levain) feeding logs
- Recipe favorites and custom recipes
- Shopping lists
- Achievement badges and statistics
- App settings (theme, language, measurement units)
This data remains on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app, unless you create a manual backup.
1.2 Subscription and Purchase Data
When you subscribe to Bread Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use RevenueCat, Inc. as a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous user identifier (not linked to your name or email)
- Purchase receipts from the app store
- Subscription status (active, expired, trial, cancelled)
- Product purchased and price paid
- Country of purchase (for regional pricing)
RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or any personal content you create in the app.
1.3 Advertising Data
If you arrived at Bread through an advertisement, the advertising platform may share an install attribution identifier with us. This helps us understand which ads lead to app installs. This data is anonymous and cannot identify you personally.
1.4 Device Information
We may collect basic device information for app functionality:
- Device type and operating system version (for compatibility)
- App version (for support and updates)
- Language and locale settings (for localization)
2. How We Use Your Information
- Subscription management: To verify your subscription status and grant access to premium features.
- App functionality: To provide the correct language, measurement units, and theme based on your settings.
- Improvement: To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the app (no personal data is used for this purpose).
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or contact information (unless you contact us directly).
- We do not track your location.
- We do not access your camera roll or photos beyond what you explicitly add to your baking journal.
- We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat, Inc. — Subscription management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — Payment processing. Your payment information (credit card, etc.) is handled exclusively by Apple or Google. We never have access to your payment details.
5. Data Retention
- Local data: Stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Subscription data: Retained by RevenueCat for as long as your subscription exists, plus a reasonable period after expiration for support purposes.
6. Your Rights
6.1 All Users
- You can delete all local app data by uninstalling the app.
- You can manage your subscription through your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play).
- You can request deletion of your subscription data by contacting us.
6.2 European Economic Area (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing
- Data portability
Our legal basis for processing subscription data is the performance of a contract (your subscription agreement).
6.3 Brazil (LGPD)
If you are in Brazil, under the Lei Geral de Protecao de Dados (LGPD), you have the right to:
- Confirm the existence of data processing
- Access your data
- Correct incomplete or inaccurate data
- Request anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary data

- Obtain information about entities with whom your data has been shared

7. Children's Privacy
Bread is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through an in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
